A pair of $440,000 grants to be dispensed over the next four years to the United Way of Central Washington and the Yakima Valley Community Foundation from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is a departure from the foundation's history of direct giving, casting a much wider net said foundation spokeswoman Melissa Milburn.
Linda Moore, president and CEO of the Yakima Valley Community Foundation said that the grants represent the Gates Foundation's trust in the United Way and in the Yakima Valley Community Foundation.
